Jeremy Bates ’90

As an undergraduate Brother Bates served as Beta-Nu’s Rush Chairman and Grand Scribe, as well as the Interfraternity Council’s (IFC) VP of Rush and President. He also served as the Southeastern IFC’s President. He was actively involved in student government as a Senator at Large for two years. Jeremy received two Kappa Sigma Scholarship-Leadership Awards and also was honored to serve on the Kappa Sigma’s Undergraduate Advisory Committee (UAC) for one year, then again after graduation as a chapter consultant for the Fraternity. Jeremy Bates graduated from University of Kentucky in 1993.

Jeremy currently is president of Bates Security, LLC and Sonitrol of Lexington, Inc. Bates Security/Sonitrol is based in Lexington, Kentucky, serving primarily the Central and Northern Kentucky markets. Under his leadership the company has grown to be ranked #59 in 2017 in the annual SDM 100 which is the security industry’s ranking of the largest 100 security companies in the nation. Bates Security has earned multiple awards over the years but the two most significant are a national industry award as the SAMMY’s Installer of the Year award in 2012 and 2016, and the Small Business of the Year in 2013 by Commerce Lexington (Lexington’s Chamber of Commerce).

Jeremy recently served as the Sonitrol National Dealer Association’s President from 2014-2016 and is currently serving as the Kentucky Electronic Security Association’s Vice President. In 2009, he was recognized in the security industry’s Security System News “Top 20 under 40.”

In addition to his professional career, Jeremy has been engaged in his community on various boards of different charitable community organizations. He has served as a board member and president of AVOL, board member of Crime Stoppers and is currently on the board of the Central Kentucky YMCA.
Bates Security is currently in the process of a major expansion into the Jacksonville, Florida market.
