Michael Bowling ’86

Brother Bowling was a leader as an undergraduate – both at Beta-Nu and on campus. Bowling served terms as Grand Treasurer and Grand Master, earning the Outstanding GMof the Year award for his efforts. He also served as President Student Activities Board, twice, Student Activities Board Special Activities Chair, Student Senator, Student Government Association and was awarded the Otis A. Singletary Outstanding Senior Male (Leadership award) in  1990.

Despite the time commitments of his numerous extra-curricular posts, he managed to graduate with a BSEE in 1990. He continued his education, earning an MBA from Vanderbilt in 1997.

He is currently the Senior Vice President of Strategy and Development for AT&T, where he has also served as President of AT&T Mexico and Chief Marketing Officer for AT&T Business Solutions. Prior to AT&T he worked at Bellsouth where his positions included Vice President Broadband Product Management and Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer of Bellsouth Peru.

He is an Adjunct Professor for Vanderbilt University, is a board member of the Center for the Digital Future and sits on the Board of Trustees of American Sentinel University. Michael is also active with the University of Kentucky as a Member of University of Kentucky Gatton College of Business and Dean’s Advisory Council.

Brother Bowling is active in his community, serving as the Chair of AT&T Giving Campaign supporting community donations and volunteering at the North Texas Food Bank and for the Salvation Army.

Michael and Nicole have three children, Isabella, born 2000, Mark, born 2005, and Webb, born 2007. On the subject of family, Mike has enough family in Beta-Nu to form their own bowling team as Dan ‘88, Matt ‘90, Joe ‘90, Rob ‘78, and Matt ’00 also all wear the Star & Crescent.

“My involvement in Kappa Sigma fundamentally shaped my leadership capabilities and equipped me to become a business leader in my career.

“My advice for undergraduate brothers is to fully embrace the opportunity in Kappa Sigma by taking advantage of all possible leadership positions and opportunities possible.
