R. Michael Gray ‘77

Mike Gray was initiated into Beta-Nu in January 1977 and graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1981 with multiple Business Administration degrees in Accounting and Finance. Following college, he practiced with KPMG and rose to the position of Tax Partner, where he was responsible for the North Carolina region of Raleigh-Durham before leaving the firm in 2000. He held roles of increasing responsibility with NCR Financial Services Corp from 2000 to 2006, when he left to join CAPTRUST. He now serves as Principal and Financial Advisor, assisting clients with wealth management and retirement advisory services.

Mike’s wife Susan is also a UK graduate as are his two children– Addison and Roth– with Roth as a legacy at Beta-Nu.

His service to Kappa Sigma, the University of Kentucky, and his community have been extensive. He has long-held positions with the Beta-Nu of Kappa Sigma House Corporation, the UK Alumni Association, and the Gatton School of Business and Economics. He serves as a director with the WakeMed Foundation, Band Together, and CAPTRUST’S foundation.

“Mike’s leadership and stewardship over the past decade served to create and galvanize Beta-Nu Brothers for the most monumental initiative in the chapter’s history,” says brother Hank Robinson, “He was the driving force in the search for a new chapter home on campus for Beta-Nu undergraduates. Through his tireless efforts, a new home was found and several million dollars were raised to ensure the long-term success of the chapter. Mike’s untiring work exemplifies what the Star & Crescent means to all brothers.”
